birth in Dijon of Jean-Philippe Rameau, the seventh child of Claude Demartinécourt and Jean Rameau, at his parents' home in cour Saint-Vincent, near the cloisters of the collegiate church of St Étienne, where his father is organist. Baptised in that church at 4 p.m. the same day
